How to Vote in New Jersey

Transparency

Transparency improves a town’s ability to govern effectively. It builds trust with residents. You deserve to know that your government is working for you, how your dollars are being spent, the expected timelines for project completions, and to have the ability to monitor the status of initiatives without having to beg and jump through hoops.

We should have:

  1. An annual review of our municipal contracts – who got them, how did they perform, demographic breakdown, number of West Orange residents that obtained them, and more.

  2. End no bid contracting

  3. Publicly posted municipal deadlines to hold elected officials accountable

  4. Running tables of the following:

    1. Grants applied for, secured, and status of funding implementation
    2. Infrastructure and project updates – timelines and expected completion dates
    3. Council expenditures/savings after each council meeting

    4. Proposed ordinances and their current status

    5. Published agendas full of supplemental documents in detail online and agendas provided at council meetings Continued budgetary hearings with public comment

    6. Continued budgetary hearings with public comment

    7. Minutes of Executive Session Topics

    8. Minutes of All Municipal Commissions Meetings Made Public
